Surat: Vesu police booked eight persons for attempted murder after they allegedly attacked four residents with knives and other sharp-edged weapons at SMC Awas in Vesu.According to police, the accused had gone to the housing complex looking for a man named Sultan. When residents confronted them over carrying weapons, the group allegedly launched an attack, during which a knife got lodged in the hand of one victim. Vesu police inspector Jignesh Rathwa said, “We have arrested six, including a minor, in connection with the crime. Eight accused were searching for a person named Sultan as they thought he was hiding in a house in the SMC Awas. They went there with sharp weapons and residents objected to their entry. The accused then started attacking residents one after another.” The alleged crime occurred around 12.30am when residents, including the complainant Shani Goswami, were playing cricket. The accused first attacked Santosh Jagdev when some youths went inside the society to check what was happening. They then confronted and attacked Bobby, Rahul Besane and Goswami before fleeing the spot. Those arrested are Pankaj Sendane (26), Niraj Baviskar (23), Tushar Nayak (21), Tarun Panpatil (18), Pratham Dabhelkar (21) and a minor. Police are searching for two more accused, Ashu Bihari and Rakesh Mohite.
