New Delhi: A bomb threat was received at Delhi High Court through an email Friday at 11.43am, prompting extensive security checks on the premises. The email allegedly warned of explosions at the High Court at 2.11pm and at district courts an hour later, but it turned out to be a hoax.The threat mail also reportedly mentioned Aug 15 and contained the warning, “Lal Qila ta nishana hove ga” (the Red Fort will be targeted). It also indicated that those carrying out the bombing will be clad in khaki.“As soon as the threat was reported, immediate and coordinated action was initiated as per the established standard operating procedures. The bomb detection and disposal teams conducted thorough checks and scans of the premises. Appropriate measures were taken to ensure the safety and security of everyone present,” a senior police officer said.Bomb disposal squads, sniffer dog teams and Delhi Fire Services personnel were deployed, while ambulances were stationed nearby as a precaution. The entire premises and surrounding areas were subjected to layered searches in coordination with local police and specialised bomb detection teams.Senior officers said that every part of the court complex was thoroughly checked, but no suspicious object or explosive material was found. After the search operation concluded, authorities declared the threat a hoax.The incident comes a day before Independence Day, when security has been significantly heightened across the national capital. Security agencies are on high alert, with intensified surveillance and deployment at key installations, public places and venues associated with the national celebrations, including Red Fort.
