CHENNAI: TVK has approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking action against former chief minister M K Stalin for violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by indulging in body shaming of its Dharapuram candidate V Sathyaba and register an FIR against him under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.The representation made on behalf of the advocates wing of TVK has demanded the ECI to immediately instruct Stalin not to continue making such derogatory remarks against women and, if necessary, impose appropriate restrictions on his election campaign.An FIR may be registered under the applicable provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Representation of the People Act, and a lawful investigation and penal action may be undertaken, it said.“The video recordings, audio recordings and media reports of the said meeting may be immediately seized and preserved.The details of the action taken on this complaint may be communicated to us,” the representation dated Oct 2 said.
