GURGAON: The body of a girl aged around 1 to 1.5 years was found stuck in an iron net inside a drain in the Palla area of Faridabad on Thursday afternoon, triggering concern in the locality and prompting a police investigation to establish her identity and the circumstances of her death.The incident came to light around 2:30 pm near Budhiya Nala, a dirty water drain passing between Dheeraj Nagar and Titu Colony Part-2. According to police, the body was spotted beneath a makeshift dirt path used by residents to cross the drain.Two schoolchildren noticed the body while passing along the path and alerted nearby locals. Residents gathered at the spot and, upon closer inspection, found that the child was dead and trapped along the edge of the drain in an iron net. The police were informed immediately.A team from Palla police station reached the scene and, with the assistance of local residents, retrieved the body. It was later sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.Police officials said no one in the area has identified the child so far. Initial inquiries suggest the possibility that the body may have drifted from a distant location through the drain before getting lodged in the net, though all angles are being examined.Faridabad Police spokesperson Yashpal Singh said efforts are ongoing to establish the identity of the girl. Police teams are conducting inquiries in nearby areas, and further investigation is in progress.
