Body of missing woman found in Dhankot canal

Gurgaon: A decomposed body of a woman who had been missing for three days was recovered from Dhankot canal near Dwarka Expressway on Thursday morning.According to the complaint filed by the family at New Colony police station, the deceased, Monam, had gone missing from her home in Devilal Colony around 2 pm on Aug 10.Police said Monam had got married in 2022 and around eight months ago, her husband died after accidentally falling from the roof of a house in Rajeev Nagar. Her family members told police that she had been deeply affected by his death and was also undergoing treatment for her deteriorating mental condition.“On Thursday, some passersby alerted the police control room (PCR) about a body of a woman floating in the canal.” Soon after, a PCR team and personnel from Rajendra Park police station reached the spot and pulled the body out of the canal with the help of divers and local residents.Police said the body had decomposed considerably, indicating that it may have remained in the water for two to three days. It was subsequently identified as Monam.Police have sent the decomposed body to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. Officials said the cause and circumstances of her death would be clear after the post-mortem examination.They are now recording statements of family members and investigating whether she died after falling in the canal herself or whether there were other reasons behind her death.
