Imphal: The bodies of four Naga men allegedly shot dead by suspected armed Kuki militants in an ambush in Kangpokpi district on Thursday were retrieved and brought to Senapati District Hospital for post-mortem examination on Friday.The bodies have been kept at the district headquarters’ multi-parking area, where a condolence service organised by Naga People’s Organisation, Senapati District Women’s Association and Senapati District Students’ Association will be held on Saturday, sources said.The mortal remains of the four victims reached Senapati after their movement was reportedly stopped at T Waichong, a Kuki village, where their passage was allegedly not allowed.Kangpokpi superintendent of police visited the spot to assess the situation, following which the bodies were allowed to proceed under CRPF escort.The remains were first received by civil society organisations at Thonglang Atongba village, a Liangmai settlement, around 8.30am. A large number of people gathered along the route and at the reception point to pay their last respects.
