Chennai: With the state govt announcing schedule for board exams last week, the school education department has warned private schools against holding special classes on Sundays, govt holidays and festival days.In a circular, the department has warned schools against holding classes even in online mode in the name of preparation. “Schools irrespective of their boards must adhere to the rule, failing which action will be taken in accordance with the Tamil Nadu Private Schools (Regulation) Rules, 2023,” the order read. While the circular did not specify the action, private schools director S Suganya said that a set of notices will be issued to the school first and they will be warned against holding further classes. An official from the department said that the schools could also be blacklisted, which could hinder their further recognition and approval process.“Any complaints of such classes within the city can be made at the DEO (Private Schools) office in Saidapet. Officials will also inspect the schools regularly to ensure compliance,” an official said.
