Panipat/Chandigarh: With the BJP focusing on youth outreach, Rajya Sabha MP and party national general secretary Sanjay Bhatia held an interaction with school students, particularly girls, in Panipat on Tuesday. In the wake of the Jantar Mantar agitation, party functionaries are understood to have been encouraged to establish greater direct dialogue with young people and address their aspirations, concerns and expectations.During his interaction, Bhatia urged students not to waste their formative years on social media reels and instead focus on education, health, skills and building confidence. “Your age is for learning,” he told students, urging them to use mobile phones and social media positively to acquire knowledge and develop skills.Addressing girls in particular, Bhatia stressed the importance of becoming financially independent before taking major life decisions. He said family finances, social attitudes and early marriage could sometimes create hurdles in girls’ education, but they should set at least one clear goal and work towards achieving it.“First develop the confidence to stand on your own feet, and then take other decisions in life,” he said, adding that marriage was an important part of life but circumstances after marriage may not always remain favourable. Bhatia also asked students not to develop an inferiority complex over their looks or physical limitations. He urged youngsters to avoid comparing themselves with others and value what their families could provide. Sharing a lesson from his mother, he said, “What you have is the best for you,” while emphasising gratitude towards parents.Bhatia also told students that economic circumstances should not determine their ambitions. A child of a factory worker, he said, could aspire to establish a factory and provide jobs to others. The interaction saw students raise questions on education, careers, self-reliance and success. Bhatia said the younger generation would be central to building a developed and empowered India.
