Hyderabad: BJP Telangana on Thursday questioned the transfer of Hyderabad deputy commissioner of police (DCP), (Cyber Crime) V Aravind Babu a day after first information reports (FIRs) were registered against Meta India head Arun Srinivas and administrators of certain social media accounts, with state BJP president N Ramchander Rao seeking an explanation from chief minister A Revanth Reddy.In a statement, Ramchander Rao alleged that the FIRs were registered after BJP workers lodged complaints over morphed and objectionable social media posts targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the cases were booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.Ramchander Rao questioned the CM’s reported remarks during a recent informal interaction with the media that the Congress govt was responsible for the registration of the FIRs.“If the chief minister is claiming credit for the registration of FIRs, why was the officer, who registered the cases, transferred the very next day?” he asked.He alleged that the cases were initiated following complaints filed by BJP workers and not because of any initiative by the state govt. Referring to media reports, Ramchander Rao claimed that senior functionaries in the Congress govt were unhappy over the registration of cases and sought an explanation.The BJP Telangana chief also alleged that frequent transfers of officials were affecting administrative independence and lowering the morale of officers. He accused the Congress govt of claiming credit for official action while penalising officers who discharged their duties.
