Amritsar: The BJP on Wednesday reacted sharply to a march by five Sikh organisations on the 40th anniversary of the so-called “Khalistan Declaration”, saying every attempt to mislead Sikhs and disturb Punjab’s peace in its name would fail. They took out the procession from Burj Akali Baba Phoola Singh to Golden Temple.Party’s Punjab spokesperson Sarchand Singh said some Sikh leaders are citing the Sarbat Khalsa congregation held on Jan 26, 1986, in the premises of Akal Takht merely to serve their political interests.“In that congregation, around 23 resolutions were passed, including the reconstruction of Akal Takht through kar sewa after it was damaged during the Congress regime under Indira Gandhi,” he said, adding that if ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ was truly linked to ‘Khalistan’, a resolution in that regard would certainly have been passed.MSID:: 130609882 413 |
