Gurgaon: A 28-year-old biryani vendor was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Bittu Dhaba in Farukhnagar late Saturday night. Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified driver under relevant sections of the BNS.The victim, Govind, was a native of Dhar Nihawa village in Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharth Nagar district. He had been living in Sultanpur village in Gurgaon, where he operated a biryani cart.According to the complaint filed by his elder brother, Deepak Chauhan, the accident took place around 11pm on May 17. Deepak, who runs a food cart in Palwal, alleged that an unidentified vehicle hit Govind while being driven rashly and at high speed near Bittu Dhaba.Govind was rushed to Government Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead. After receiving information about the incident, Deepak reached the hospital and identified the body.Based on the complaint, Farukhnagar police registered a case under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS.Police said they received information about the death from the hospital on Sunday, following which investigating officer SI Hawa Singh and his team visited the hospital and collected medico-legal documents.Investigators later inspected the accident site and gathered evidence. Police said efforts are underway to identify the offending vehicle and trace the driver. Further investigation is in progress.
