Mira Road: A 45-year-old biker was killed after being pushed under a moving container truck following a dispute over wrong-side driving in Bhayander in the wee hours of Monday. Naya Nagar police have arrested the three men who assaulted the biker and pushed him on the road as well as the container truck driver and booked them for murder among other offences.The deceased, Sainath Chavan, worked as an ambulance driver at Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Hospital in Bhayander. According to police, around 2am, he was heading towards Bhayander when a taxi approached from the wrong direction on Mira-Bhayander Road. Chavan stopped the cab and questioned its driver, Sagar Samgistar (32), about driving against the flow of traffic. An argument followed, after which the two passengers in the cab — Rakesh Chandivade (40) and Satish Asbe (33) — allegedly assaulted Chavan before pushing him onto the road. At the same time, the speeding container truck ran over Chavan, killing him on the spot, police said.“Based on a complaint filed by Chavan’s brother Kalpesh, a case was registered against the four accused under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 103 (murder), 105(1) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 115(2) (causes simple physical pain, disease, or infirmity to another person) and 281 (rash or negligent driving or riding endangering human life or likely to cause injury), along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,” Naya Nagar senior police inspector Amar Jagdale said.Police are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the exact sequence of events leading to Chavan’s death.
