Gurgaon: Two people, including a woman, died in separate hit-and-run road accidents in the city within 24 hours from Friday evening.In the first incident, Ankit, a resident of Dhani Shankarwali village, died after an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle near Binola flyover on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway in the early hours of Saturday. The accused driver fled the spot.According to a complaint filed by Ankit’s father at Bilaspur police station, the deceased, who worked in a private company, was returning home from his sister’s house in Dharam Colony around 3 am when the unknown vehicle, being driven negligently, struck him. He died on the spot due to the impact.Police said they received information about the accident through an emergency response vehicle and reached the scene. The body was shifted to the local mortuary for autopsy. The damaged bike was also recovered from the spot.Based on the complaint, a case was registered under sections 281 (rash driving), 125 (recklessly or negligently endanger human life) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of the BNS against the unidentified driver.In the second case, a woman, Divya, a resident of Nand Nagri in Delhi, died after the motorcycle she was riding pillion on was hit by an autorickshaw near the Rapid Metro station in Sector 53 on Friday evening.According to the statement by Danish, the motorcycle rider, he was taking Divya from Sector 65 to Delhi when an autorickshaw bearing the registration number HR-55-AW-7143 rammed into their motorcycle from the side. Police said that the auto driver fled the spot.The collision caused both riders to fall on the road. Divya sustained critical injuries and was taken to a private hospital in Sector 53, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.A police team rushed to the spot after they were alerted about the incident but found that the injured had already been shifted to the hospital by then. After collecting medical records and statements, a case was registered at the Sector 53 police station under sections 281 and 106(2) of the BNS against the autorickshaw driver.“We will nab the accused auto driver soon as we have his vehicle registration number,” said ASI Satpal of the Sector 53 police station The body of the victim was handed to the family after the post-mortem examination.
