Biker, 32, killed in SG Road hit-run in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A 32-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the Pakwan overbridge on SG Highway in the early hours of Sunday, less than an hour after he told his mother that he would come home with a bag.According to an FIR registered by SG-2 Traffic Police, the victim, Akshar Gajjar, was riding a motorcycle from Iskcon Circle towards Sola when an unidentified vehicle allegedly struck his bike on the Pakwan overbridge around 3am. The vehicle sped away.Police said the impact caused severe head and body injuries, leading to his death on the spot. Investigators have registered a case and launched a search using CCTV footage and human intelligence.According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, Akshar had visited her residence on Science City Road late on Saturday night. He did not live with the family. He later left on his younger brother’s motorcycle to collect a bag.At around 2.23am, he called his mother and asked for the address of her apartment. During the conversation, he told her that carrying a large bag on a motorcycle would be difficult and that he planned to book a cab to bring it home.That phone call turned out to be his last communication with the family.A few hours later, at around 5.45am, police contacted his mother and informed her that her son had been in an accident. She rushed to Sola Civil Hospital, where she identified the body.Police said efforts are underway to trace the driver and determine the type of vehicle involved in the collision. The body was handed over to family members after the postmortem examination.
