Bhiwandi jail inmate creates ruckus at hospital, injures himself

Bhiwandi: A Bhiwandi-based inmate, Abid Istiaq Ansari, who is lodged in Adharwadi Jail, created a commotion at the Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar on Monday after doctors refused to admit him. The inmate, complaining of severe stomach pain, was brought to the hospital for treatment. After a routine examination, the doctors advised medication and decided not to admit him, instructing jail authorities to take him back. Angered by the decision, Ansari reportedly banged his head against the glass of Cabin No. 13, sustaining minor injuries.Ansari, who has been in Aadwaradi Jail since 2023, is facing action under stringent MCOCA Act by the Kongaon Police Station. He had been complaining of stomach pain for the past two days, prompting jail officials to bring him to the hospital in the evening.During the incident, Ansari insisted, “Admit me immediately; I am not in a condition to be taken back,” and created a disturbance in the hospital premises. The sudden unrest briefly led to a tense atmosphere in the hospital.Following the incident, Central Police Station registered a case against Ansari, and the inmate was treated with medication by doctors before being sent back to jail.
