Lucknow: The 22-year-old woman who was allegedly dragged on a car’s bonnet by her boyfriend has now claimed that he (Shahnawaz) concealed his identity and introduced himself as Ayush Yash Thakur. The woman has further alleged that she is now facing pressure from his family to settle the matter and withdraw the case against him.Anamika Singh, a law student, said she met Shahnawaz, 26, at a club in Lucknow about a year ago. According to her, the two exchanged phone numbers and gradually entered into a relationship. She alleged that Shahnawaz initially told her he was Hindu and identified himself as Ayush Yash Thakur, but later she discovered his real identity through social media.The revelation led to disagreements between them though they continued to remain in contact. Anamika said they spoke regularly and met on several occasions, including at Shahnawaz’s home. She also claimed to have met members of his family during the course of the relationship.Describing the Sept 16 incident — when she dragged on the car’s bonnet driven by Shahnawaz near the Janeshwar Mishra Park after an argument with him — Anamika claimed she could have died. Anamika further alleged that Shahnawaz had assaulted her on multiple occasions during their relationship. Police arrested Shahnawaz within hours of the incident and seized his car. Police said all allegations, including those related to the relationship, identity and alleged pressure for compromise, are being probed.
