Jaipur: A 24-year-old student allegedly died by suicide in her rented room in Anandpuri under Moti Dungri police station area in Jaipur Sunday night, barely a week after losing her father. Police said the victim, Priyanka, was deeply distressed following her father’s death on Aug 1 and was under severe mental stress.A resident of Shiv Nagar in Barmer, Priyanka was pursuing her B Ed at Meera Girls College in Adarsh Nagar. She had returned to Jaipur five days earlier to take her exams, ending Aug 14. After attending her father’s post-death rituals on Aug 3, she wrote the exam Saturday and met with friends in the colony later that day.The tragedy came to light when her landlord noticed she had not left her room all day Sunday. Receiving no response to repeated knocks, the landlord alerted the police control room.“Our team reached the spot, opened the room, and found her hanging inside. The body was shifted to the mortuary at SMS Hospital,” said a police officer. The post-mortem examination was conducted Monday after her family arrived from Barmer.Investigators revealed that no suicide note was recovered from the room during preliminary searches. “She was deeply affected by her father’s passing and had been under immense stress since then. We are examining the circumstances and investigating the exact trigger behind this step,” the officer added.Police have launched a probe into the matter. “No suicide note was recovered from the room during the preliminary search. Statements from her family members, friends, and acquaintances are being recorded to ascertain the exact reason that may have led Priyanka to take the extreme step.
