Varanasi: A Ballia court on Thursday sentenced a man to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl.The court of the special judge (POCSO Act) also imposed a fine of ₹20,000 on the convict, Sadhu Yadav, a resident of Pradhanpur village under Rasra police station limits.In default of payment of the fine, he will have to undergo an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.Prosecution officer Rakesh Kumar Pandey said the case pertains to an incident on Jan 26, 2025, when the victim had accompanied her parents to the village panchayat bhawan for a flag-hoisting ceremony. During the event, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl.Following a complaint, police registered a case and completed the investigation, leading to the filing of a chargesheet and subsequent conviction of the accused.
