Varanasi: A special Pocso court in Azamgarh on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of a minor girl.The court also imposed a fine of ₹83,000 on Jeetu alias Jitendra Yadav, a resident of Sikraur Sahbari in Azamgarh district.According to the prosecution, the case was registered at Sarai Mir police station on Feb 11, 2021. Jitendra was accused of forcibly taking the minor girl away on a motorcycle while she was being brought home from a field. He allegedly raped and murdered her before concealing the body.An FIR was lodged under IPC sections 363, 376(3), 302 and 201, along with sections 3 and 4 of the Pocso Act.After completing the investigation, police filed a chargesheet in court. During the trial, 14 witnesses were examined. The court found Jitendra guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment along with the fine.
