Automobile service station near Delhi-Jaipur Expressway gutted in fire

Gurgaon: A fire broke out at a Posco service station in Gali No. 2 of Rajiv Colony, near the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway (NH-8), late Saturday night, damaging vehicles, repair equipment, spare parts and other material.The blaze was reported after passers-by and local residents noticed flames rising from the premises and alerted police and the fire department. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and firefighters brought the blaze under control after an extended operation.A fire officer said the flames were contained within the service station before they could spread to nearby houses and buildings. “There was no casualty in the incident,” he said.Several vehicles parked inside the premises were damaged in the fire, along with repair equipment, spare parts and other material. The total value of the property damaged is yet to be assessed.The service station is located close to NH-48 and is surrounded by residential areas. The presence of combustible material inside the premises caused the fire to spread rapidly, officials said.A preliminary assessment suggests that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze. Fire officials said the exact cause would be established after a detailed inspection.Police and fire department officials are investigating the incident and assessing the extent of the damage.
