Chandigarh: Members of AAP’s student wing, ASAP, Monday staged a protest outside the Dean Students Welfare (DSW) office at PU, alleging poor maintenance of drinking water facilities in hostels and departments.The group claimed inspections at various hostels and departments revealed unhygienic water tanks, algae buildup and inadequate upkeep, forcing students to use contaminated water.Following the protest, university officials assured students that water tanks would be cleaned by Tuesday afternoon. The administration also agreed to form a monitoring committee comprising wardens, cleaning staff and two resident students to inspect water facilities every 15 days.ASAP members said they would continue to raise the issue if the assurances were not implemented and demanded clean drinking water across the campus.
