Hisar: A man sat in protest outside the house of a man he alleges is his wife’s lover in Ashok Nagar, Fatehabad, on Tuesday, bringing his three children along. The man, identified as Raju, alleged that his wife had left him and their children several months ago and was living with another man, Sonu.Raju reportedly spread a mat outside Sonu’s house, located around eight to 10 houses away from his own residence, and sat there with his two daughters and a son. One of his daughters is reportedly specially-abled.Residents gathered at the spot after seeing Raju sitting with the children and extended support to him. Some raised slogans and demanded action against Sonu. Residents also accused Sonu of involvement in the illegal drug trade, though the allegation has not been independently verified. The protest followed Raju’s alleged visit to HUDA police post to lodge a complaint over the dispute involving his wife. Raju and some residents alleged that police personnel misbehaved with and assaulted him instead of acting on his complaint. After receiving information about the gathering, a police team led by woman police personnel reached the spot and persuaded Raju and the children to end the protest and return home. Police assured him and the residents that both sides would be called to the police post and appropriate legal action would be taken.During the protest, Raju threatened to die by suicide or kill his wife if he did not get justice. Fatehabad police said the matter was being investigated and termed the allegations against the police baseless. Further action will depend on the findings of the inquiry.
