Itanagar: Arunachal CM Pema Khandu on Monday sought central support for flood-hit farmers and rural roads in the state.During a meeting with Union agriculture and farmers’ welfare and rural development minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi, Khandu sought immediate financial assistance for farmers affected by incessant rain and flash floods. He also called for stronger rural road connectivity under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in remote border areas.“Sought his support for strengthening rural road connectivity and extending necessary assistance to farmers affected by the recent floods and heavy rains across the state. Grateful for his positive response and continued support towards the development of our rural communities and the welfare of our farmers,” Khandu said in a social media post.Khandu said Chouhan assured the Centre’s cooperation in providing disaster relief, crop-loss compensation and infrastructure rehabilitation.The meeting followed joint ground and aerial assessments by central and state authorities of damage to crops, livestock and rural roads in flood-hit areas.
