Army initiative powers NEET success for 30 underprivileged Tinsukia students

Dibrugarh: For 30 underprivileged students in Tinsukia, an Army-backed coaching programme has opened the door to medical college.Thirty of 45 candidates from the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation’s Tinsukia centre qualified in NEET 2026, marking a major milestone for the free residential coaching initiative supported by the Indian Army’s Red Shield Division under Spear Corps.NIEDO trains meritorious students from economically disadvantaged families for the medical entrance test, offering academic support that is otherwise beyond their reach.Among the qualifiers is Roshan Kujur of Dighaltarrang Tea Estate in Tinsukia, who scored 402. Kujur lost his father early, after which his elder brother, who runs a small shop in Tinsukia, supported the family. Despite the hardship, he stayed focused on his studies and cleared the exam.“This success reflects not just academic ability but the strength of character these young people carry,” a Red Shield Division official said, crediting students’ effort, faculty mentorship and Army support.“Every qualifying student here has a story of resilience, overcoming circumstance,” the official added.Officers associated with the programme said the results underlined the Army’s focus on education and youth empowerment in the region.
