Dibrugarh: The Red Shield Division under Spear Corps on Wednesday held a security conference at Laipuli in Tinsukia district to prepare for the 80th Independence Day celebrations.Held as part of the ongoing civil-military fusion initiative, the conference aimed to strengthen inter-agency coordination and review the security framework to ensure peaceful celebrations of the national event.The conference brought together senior Army officials and representatives of the Assam Police, including Tinsukia superintendent of police (SSP) Mayank Kumar and Dibrugarh SSP Abhijit Gurav. Local civil administration members, intelligence officers and other law enforcement stakeholders were also present.Deliberations focused on intelligence sharing, coordinated preventive measures, proactive security planning and enhanced inter-agency synergy to effectively address emerging security challenges. Speakers underlined the need for seamless information flow between military and civil agencies, rapid response mechanisms and joint contingency planning for crowd management and critical infrastructure protection.“In the run-up to such significant national events, timely intelligence and close coordination are crucial. Such collaborative initiatives not only bolster security but also promote mutual trust between civil agencies and the Indian Army. Our objective is to ensure that citizens can observe Independence Day with dignity and without safety concerns. We will continue to share actionable inputs and conduct joint drills where necessary,” a senior Army official said.Participants reviewed responsibility matrices, communication protocols and deployment plans for sensitive locations, transport nodes and public gatherings. The conference also discussed the use of technological aids such as real-time surveillance feeds and centralised command-and-control platforms to speed up decision-making during any incident.All stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to seamless coordination and a unified approach to ensuring a safe, secure and incident-free Independence Day.
