Times News NetworkGandhinagar: An event to mark the state-level celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga will be held at Mansa, Gandhinagar district, on June 21. As part of the day’s observance, yoga sessions will be held at 24,000 locations across the state with about 1.25 crore participants, the state govt said on Thursday. Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah will participate at a yoga day event in Ahmedabad, deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi said.Sanghavi, who is also minister for cultural activities, said that this year, the celebrations of International Day of Yoga the will be under the theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’. He said that 24,000 programmes have been organised in cities, towns, villages, iconic locations, colleges, schools, corporate offices, industries and gardens to mark the occasion. He added that 1.25 crore citizens will participate in these events on June 21.Providing information, the minister said that more than 4,000 people will join the chief minister and others in the celebrations at Mansa taluka. Additionally, mass yoga events will be held at all municipal corporations, municipalities and other places.Sanghavi said that yoga and Indian culture are being spread rapidly across the world, and the demand for Indian yoga instructors has risen sharply not only in India but globally, with highly attractive salaries being offered.He also commended the work of the Gujarat State Yoga Board in holding workshops across the state to make yoga popular among people.
