TIRUVANNAMALAI/PUDUCHERRY: Union home minister Amit Shah arrived in Tiruvannamalai on Saturday, as part of his two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. He offered prayers at the revered Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar temple and Sri Ramana Maharshi Ashram.Having arrived in Chennai from Mumbai earlier in the day, the home minister flew by helicopter to a landing facility near Tiruvannamalai. From there, he proceeded by road to the ancient Arunachaleswarar temple, one of the foremost Panchabhoota Sthalams representing the element of fire.During his visit to the temple, Shah offered prayers across various sanctums, including the Sambandha Vinayagar shrine, the main Annamalaiyar shrine, and the Unnamalai Amman shrine. Upon concluding his prayers, temple authorities and police officials presented him with traditional garlands and prasadam. Upon exiting the temple complex, Shah greeted waiting devotees, members of the public, and BJP workers with folded hands.Following his temple visit, Shah travelled along the Girivalam path to the Sri Ramana Maharshi Ashram, where he participated in special prayers and rituals. After completing his spiritual engagements in Tiruvannamalai, Shah departed by road for Puducherry.Shah is scheduled to attend the presentation ceremony of the President’s Police Colour to the Puducherry Police on Sunday morning at the Puducherry Police Ground. He will later proceed to a hotel for scheduled organisational and official meetings, followed by lunch. He will flag off a ‘Tricolour in every house’ rally in the town. Shah will depart from Puducherry Airport in an IAF helicopter at 2.10pm, reaching Chennai airport by 2.55pm before boarding an IAF aircraft to return to New Delhi.
