Ahmedabad: Residents of private housing societies and premises across Ahmedabad will now have to pay charges for tree trimming and disposal of green waste, with Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) Heritage and Recreation Committee approving a proposal to introduce the new fees on Monday.Under the proposed policy, residents will have to pay Rs 100 for trimming trees within private society premises, while Rs 150 per tractor trip will be charged for transporting and disposing of the green waste generated from the trimming. The proposal will be placed before the standing committee for formal approval at its meeting on Thursday.AMC’s garden department currently undertakes tree trimming and green waste removal in public spaces, including roads, public gardens and other municipal properties across the city. However, there was no defined policy for carrying out such work within private societies or on private premises.To regulate the service, the garden department has formulated a dedicated policy for tree trimming and green waste collection in private societies.The civic body’s move is aimed at bringing tree-trimming work in private premises under a formal mechanism and ensuring proper disposal of the green waste generated during such operations. The proposal will come into effect after it receives approval from the standing committee.
