Alwar: A 27-year-old mother killed her two minor children by slitting their throats with scissors before dying by suicide in Dantiya village of Alwar district Sunday morning, police said.The woman, identified as Usha Sharma, first attacked her 5-year-old son Mukul and then 4-year-old daughter Nandani, before fatally injuring herself with the same scissors, they added.All three were rushed to hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. Additional SP Priyanka Raghuvanshi said police were investigating all possible angles to establish the cause of the crime.Usha’s sister Manisha, who is married to the former’s brother-in-law, was the sole other member of the family at home at the time of the incident. She told police that Usha, annoyed at her daughter for insisting on playing outside, dragged both children into her room and shut the door before attacking them.Neighbours rushed to the house upon hearing the children’s screams and forced the door to Usha’s room, where they found all three lying in a pool of blood.Distressed at the sight, Manisha repeatedly banged her head against a wall and suffered a serious head injury as a result, police said. She was given primary care at a local hospital before being referred to Alwar for further treatment.Dr Santosh Yadav of Khedli sub-district hospital said Usha could not be saved due to a deep cut on her neck. He added that the minor girl was already unresponsive when brought in, while the boy was in a critical condition.Police said Usha’s husband works for a private company in Gujarat, while Manisha’s husband is a nursing staff member at a private hospital in Jaipur. Both men have been informed of the incident.
