Chandigarh: Haryana has completed all 773 rural road projects sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), covering 8,111 km at an estimated cost of Rs 3,718 crore, the Centre informed the Rajya Sabha during the monsoon session.Replying to a question by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia, the Union ministry of rural development said all road projects sanctioned under various components of PMGSY up to 2024-25 had been completed. It added maintenance of these roads now rested with the Haryana govt. However, the Centre said Haryana is yet to survey any eligible habitation under PMGSY-IV, launched in Sept 2024. It said states must first identify and survey eligible habitations before fresh road projects could be sanctioned under the new phase, with approvals being issued in stages. The ministry said PMGSY had so far connected 16,441 rural service centres in Haryana, including facilities related to agriculture, healthcare, education and transport, improving access to essential services in rural areas. The Centre also informed the House that Rs 36 crore had been released to Haryana during 2026-27 for maintenance of PMGSY roads, including administrative and incentive grants. It clarified that while funds are released to the state as a whole, district-wise allocation is decided by the state govt based on local requirements.
