Hyderabad: An alert 16-year-old youth from Chudi Bazar in Goshamahal has helped police bust an LPG agency’s alleged pilferage. Later, based on the complaint lodged by the teen’s family, five persons were arrested by Goshamahal police. On learning about the father-son duo’s efforts, Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar felicitated them on Saturday. Last month, Ashok Tiwari had booked a gas refill and some days later it was delivered. His son Naman Tiwari found that the cylinder was lighter than the usual and he observed that it was the second time he noticed it.The teenager brought the issue to the notice of his father, who when verified found that the cylinder was weighing 28 kg against the expected 30 kg. When Ashok and his son went to their gas agency Siddartha Enterprises, the staff instead of clarifying allegedly were rude to Ashok. Without giving up on the issue, they started to investigate and found that the gas agency staff were illegally pilfering gas from domestic cylinders and transkering the fuel to smaller cylinders. On knowing about it, they approached police, who registered a case, and arrested staff of the agency — Sai Kumar,Vineeth Kumar, Pusa Ganesh, Praveen Kumar and Amit Kumar — and they seized two commercial cylinders, seven domestic cylinders, 12 small cylinders, and refilling equipment from their possession.“The manager and other members of the management are yet to be arrested. By using delivery boys, the pilferage was being done in Goshamahal by bringing cylinders in autorickshaws,” Goshamahal inspector B Shravan Kumar said.
