Following the march, a memorandum, addressed to the Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria, was submitted to the Tarn Taran deputy commissioner.

TARN TARAN: The Akali Dal Waris Punjab De on Tuesday organised a protest march against the removal of the film ‘Satluj’, based on the life and struggles of Jaswant Singh Khalra, from the OTT platform. The protest march was led by Tarsem Singh, father of jailed Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh. MLA Manpreet Singh Iyali and other senior functionaries of the party also participated in the protest march.Following the march, a memorandum, addressed to the Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria, was submitted to the Tarn Taran deputy commissioner.Addressing the gathering, Tarsem Singh said that Jaswant Singh Khalra sacrificed his life defending human rights and bringing the truth to the world. He said the film based on Khalra’s life had already faced prolonged delays, and removing it from the OTT platform merely two days after its release was highly condemnable and contrary to democratic values. He further stated that such actions created the impression that attempts were being made to prevent the public from learning about sensitive historical issues and human rights concerns relating to the Sikh community.Tarsem Singh emphasised that in a democracy, historical truth should be allowed to reach the people rather than being suppressed.Akali Dal Waris Punjab De functionary Shamsher Singh Padhri said that the party representatives demanded immediate restoration of ‘Satluj’ on the OTT platform, a public explanation regarding the reasons behind its removal, and urged the authorities to refrain from restricting films dealing with human rights issues in the future.
