Rajkot: A 40-year-old Air Force officer in Jamnagar was cheated of Rs 81 lakh that he was induced to invest in a purported solar plant business, after being promised lucrative returns and receiving small payouts to boost his confidence. The officer, Dhananjay Mishra, lodged a complaint at Jamnagar City C Division police station against Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, Arjunsinh, Sachin Pancholi and others for criminal breach of trust, criminal intimidation and abetment under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.According to Mishra’s FIR, he first met Dharmendrasinh Jadeja three years ago. Jadeja claimed to be associated with a solar plant project linked to a known company and persuaded Mishra to invest in the venture. Jadeja’s brother-in-law Arjun and others later also allegedly assured Mishra lucrative returns, strengthening his confidence in the proposal.Police said that between Aug 4, 2024, and Feb 28, 2025, Mishra invested Rs 81.71 lakh via cash payments and bank transfers from his own accounts and those of his friend, Amit Tiwari. Mishra alleged that he was initially disbursed ‘profits’ of about Rs 10 lakh, which encouraged him to invest more. The FIR states that the parties later entered a 50% partnership agreement for the purchase of some machinery. After a while, the promised returns dried up. Mishra alleged that when he demanded repayment of his principal investment, the accused refused and instead threatened and abused him.Mishra submitted documentary evidence, including the partnership agreement and details of transactions, to police.
