AIMIM loses all 7 seats in Bengal polls

Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen lost all the 11 seats it contested in the West Bengal assembly elections, the results of which were announced on Monday.AIMIM national spokesperson Adil Hussain said: “We will analyse the performance of our candidates and the party.” The party had fielded candidates from Murshidabad, Malda, Birbhum, North 24 Parganas, Paschim Bardhaman and Uttar Dinajpur, which have Muslim population in large numbers.AIMIM went alone in the West Bengal elections after it snapped its pre-poll alliance with Humayun Kabir’s newly launched political party Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP), following a sting operation exposing Humayun allegedly seeking money to cut into Muslim votes. AIMIM contested six seats in last elections and lost deposits in all. tnn
