Guwahati: Assam has partnered with six organisations to use AI for teacher training, literacy assessment and personalised school education.The MoUs were signed between Samagra Shiksha, Assam, and Google AI; IIT Madras – Bodhan AI; LEHS – Wadhwani AI; Educate Girls; EkStep – AXL; and Canva Education. The collaborations cover teacher training, foundational literacy, personalised learning, digital creativity and the enrolment of out-of-school adolescents.“These collaborations mark an important step towards creating a technology-enabled, inclusive and learner-centric education ecosystem, while empowering our teachers and expanding learning opportunities for every child,” state education minister Ranoj Pegu said on ‘X’.Under the Google AI partnership, teachers will receive training in AI-enabled educational tools, digital skills and professional development to strengthen technology-enabled teaching practices.IIT Madras – Bodhan AI collaboration will focus on building AI proficiency among teachers. It aims to train around one lakh teachers teaching Classes VI to XII by May 2027.The partnership with LEHS – Wadhwani AI will strengthen foundational literacy through AI-enabled assessment of students’ reading fluency. The technology is expected to help identify learning gaps and improve interventions at the foundational stage.Educate Girls will work on identifying, enrolling and retaining out-of-school adolescents, particularly girls, to improve access to education among vulnerable groups.EkStep – AXL will promote personalised and AI-assisted learning in foundational literacy and numeracy. Canva Education will support digital literacy, creativity, design thinking and innovation among teachers and students.The initiatives aim to strengthen teacher capacity and widen access to personalised learning in Assam.
