Ahmedabad: A woman called the Abhayam women’s helpline after finding her husband, a school principal, with a former colleague. The couple was counselled, after which the man agreed to sever the relationship with the ex-colleague or face consequences.According to counsellors, the woman said in her complaint that she has been married for 16 years and she and her husband have a 13-year-old child. The man has had a relationship with the teacher for the past nine years. “The teacher was married, but to maintain this relationship and hoping that the man would do the same, got a divorce a few years ago,” said a counsellor. “She lives with her daughter. The man’s family knew of the affair and had supported the caller.” The counsellor said, “The woman reported the incident to the education committee, after which the teacher was transferred to another school.” The woman called up the helpline after finding the woman at her home again. “The man was counselled, during which he said that he tried but could not end the relationship,” said the counsellor. “He, however, agreed that he would not maintain the relationship any longer as he is also doing injustice to the teacher.”
