Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation team attacked during stray cattle drive in Naroda; one booked

Ahmedabad: Tension gripped Bharwadvas area in Naroda on Wednesday as a team from the cattle nuisance control department (CNCD) of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) was allegedly stopped and threatened, while impounding stray cattle.An AMC press release stated, “The incident occurred around 12.30pm near Bharwadvas on Payalnagar Road. In line with the Gujarat high court’s directives and the state govt’s ‘Zero-Tolerance Level to Cattle Nuisance’ policy, the team was conducting a routine sweep to impound stray animals.”According to release, while the staff was in the process of capturing stray cows on the public road, an unidentified individual arrived on a black motorcycle. “The accused reportedly blocked the team’s path, hurled abusive language, and issued threats to the personnel. During the confrontation, the individual managed to drive the captured cattle away, effectively stalling the legal operation.”After the CNCD filed a complaint, a case was registered by the Naroda police against the motorcyclist for obstructing public servants and criminal intimidation. Investigation is currently underway to apprehend the suspect.
