Ahmedabad: Drizzle, breeze bring relief as mercury slips below 40°C

Ahmedabad: Several parts of the city beyond SG Road and SP Ring Road received a slight drizzle on Wednesday night, capping a day where the maximum temperature dipped below 40 degrees celsius for the first time in almost two months. Areas including Bopal, Shela and Shilaj recorded a slight drizzle, while pockets around SG Road saw light rain. A pleasant breeze swept across many parts of the city through the evening.The maximum temperature settled at 39.8°C, 1.6 degrees above normal, while the minimum stood at 29.5°C, 2.1 degrees above normal. Relative humidity was recorded at 63% at 8.30am and 39% at 5.30pm. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a maximum temperature of around 40°C for Thursday.Meanwhile, the northern limit of the southwest monsoon continued to lie near Harnai and Solapur in Maharashtra. Met officials said conditions would turn favourable for its further advance over the coming days.The IMD added that no major change in maximum temperatures is expected across Gujarat, where all weather stations recorded maximum temperatures of below 40 °C on Wednesday.
