Ahmedabad: The solid waste management department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s North West Zone sealed four commercial units in Ghatlodia ward for littering and using banned plastic.According to AMC, Estilio Salon on Madhuvrind Road, Garage Guru and Varahi Auto Garage in Vasukanan Complex were sealed for littering on public roads, and Shop No. 8 in Kamal Flat on Modern Road was sealed for using banned plastic.AMC officials said action is being taken regularly under the GPMC Act and public health by-laws against vegetable vendors, paan shops, tea stalls, establishments using paper cups, traders engaged in the sale, storage or use of banned plastic, and commercial units that fail to maintain dustbins and create nuisance on public roads.The civic body conducts daily inspections across the zone and has also deployed special squads during morning and evening hours to strengthen enforcement, maintain cleanliness and curb activities that pose a threat to public health.During a recent drive, the solid waste management department inspected around 80 commercial establishments. Notices were issued to 64 units found violating norms, 5kg of banned plastic was seized, and fines totalling Rs 60,400 were recovered.
