Ahmedabad: A nearly seven-minute video recorded before his death has put the spotlight on a man’s suicide in Ranip last month. The 43-year-old man alleged emotional turmoil and family disputes in his final message. A two-page detailed note added further allegations and named multiple individuals. Following a complaint based on the video and note, the police arrested his wife on Thursday. In the footage, the man, identified as Dashrath Desai, is seen visibly distressed, expressing a wish to hug his children one last time. He also accused his wife of having multiple relationships, claiming he had collected evidence through her call records and messages.In a two-page note, Desai said he had spent around Rs 25 lakh in attempts to resolve disputes and rebuild the relationship, but conflicts continued. He alleged that his wife would frequently leave home after arguments and used threats of self-harm to exert pressure. He also named some individuals, accusing them of being involved with her.Family members told police that Desai had been under severe mental stress for months due to the ongoing marital discord and financial strain. They alleged that valuables from the house had been mortgaged and money had been misused, worsening his situation. According to them, repeated conflicts and threats added to his distress in the lead-up to the incident of March 22.Police said the accused woman’s mobile phone has been seized and is being examined for technical evidence. Preliminary findings suggest multiple contacts, but officials said details are still being verified.A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including abetment to suicide. Investigators said they will examine the claims made in the video and note, and determine the role of others named in the complaint.
