Jaipur: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Sunday arrested two wanted sharpshooters of Lawrence Bishnoi–Arzoo Bishnoi gang in Jodhpur. Punjab Police had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh each on the two accused.ADG, AGTF, Dinesh MN said the accused had allegedly fled to Nepal after murder cases in Fazilka and Abohar and later returned to India through Madhya Pradesh. They had come to Jodhpur allegedly to carry out a major extortion-related crime when AGTF teams, acting on intelligence inputs, arrested them.Dinesh identified the arrested accused as Jaskaran Singh alias Karan alias Sunny alias Katta (23), a resident of Harsingh Rai Nagar, Fazilka, Punjab, and Rajinder alias Billa (23), a resident of Balluana under Sadar Abohar police station in Fazilka, Punjab.Police said there were concerns that the two could target a prominent businessman in Jodhpur, threaten him and demand a ransom running into crores of rupees. After confirming their arrival in Jodhpur, AGTF, with the assistance of Jodhpur Commissionerate police, launched the operation and arrested them.AGTF teams had stepped up surveillance on shooters associated with Lawrence Bishnoi and Arzoo Bishnoi gangs, as well as criminals from the Haryana-Punjab region bordering Rajasthan, after cases in which gang members allegedly threatened businessmen in Rajasthan. The teams were also monitoring criminals who allegedly committed crimes in Rajasthan before fleeing to neighbouring states.Police said Jaskaran Singh alias Karan and Rajinder Singh alias Billa had been wanted by Punjab Police for a long time. They were allegedly wanted in several cases, including the murder of cloth trader Sanjay Verma in Abohar and the murder of Sahil Sen in Fazilka allegedly over a rivalry.Apart from Punjab Police, police in Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh were also looking for the two men. Around 18 months ago, inputs had emerged that they had fled to Nepal after murder cases in Fazilka and Abohar. AGTF subsequently continued gathering intelligence on their movements and possible return to India.After pressure increased on them in Nepal, the two allegedly returned to India and prepared to enter Rajasthan through Madhya Pradesh. Around three days before the operation, AGTF received information that the two were in Sirohi and were heading towards Jodhpur. Surveillance on their movements was then intensified.Police said the available criminal records of the two accused show a total of 12 cases registered against them in Punjab — eight against Rajinder Singh alias Billa and four against Jaskaran Singh alias Karan.The eight cases against Rajinder Singh, registered between 2023 and 2025 in Abohar, Fazilka and Sangrur, include murder, attempt to murder, assault, criminal intimidation, theft/property-related offences, group violence and offences under the Arms Act.The four cases against Jaskaran Singh alias Karan Katta, registered in Fazilka and Abohar, include murder, assault and causing injury with a weapon, rioting, group violence, criminal intimidation, robbery and offences under the Arms Act.
