Noida: Two days after reports highlighted residents of Supertech Supernova in Noida receiving yellowish-black, foul-smelling water containing worms, Noida Authority restored Ganga water supply to the society on Thursday. Residents had been dealing with the problem for two weeks, raising concerns over the quality of water supplied to crores-worth apartments.Authority has also served a notice on the developer, Supertech, seeking payment of pending dues of Rs 64.01 lakh.General manager of the authority, RP Singh, said that Supernova had received Ganga water but nearly two years ago the services were disrupted due to the insolvency of the builder. “We have resumed the water supply in Supernova and asked the developer to clear the dues at the latest,” he said.Residents said the pressure remained despite the water supply being restored. “We are checking if there is any blockage in the pipeline,” said Naresh Nandwani, a Supernova resident.According to Authority, of the 582 flats in the project, the developer has obtained water connections for only 100. The remaining flats will receive Ganga water connection after the outstanding dues are cleared.

Authority also warned that failure to clear the dues could result in the connection being disconnected again, besides recovery proceedings for the outstanding amount.Supertech, meanwhile, approached the Supreme Court-appointed empowered committee seeking its intervention. Chairman, Supertech Realtors Pvt Ltd, RK Arora said, “It is for the committee to resolve the matter and ensure that the piped water supply is potable and of good quality.”In June 2024, NCLT initiated insolvency proceedings against Supertech over its Supernova project following a plea by Bank of Maharashtra over a default of Rs 168.04 crore. Of the 2,800 residential and commercial units, around 1,700 are yet to be delivered. Nearly 350 families live in Nova East and Nova West. Astralis, a commercial tower, is ready, while Spira, a mixed-use residential-office tower, is under construction.Spread over 70,002 square metres in Sector 94, Supernova is planned as an 80-floor project rising 300 metres, making it the tallest building in Delhi-NCR.
