After a spell of rain, Gr Noida’s office hub turns into a muddy mess
Officegoers said rain triggered waterlogging and expressed concern whether the administration would be able to tackle floods

Noida: Persistent waterlogging near district consumer forum and other govt offices at Surajpur collectorate has led to repeated complaints from advocates and officegoers. After every spell of rain, dirty drain water spills onto roads, leaving the area resembling an impromptu pond. The situation persisted after the weekend showers. This issue affects not only litigants but also advocates, judges, and several government officials who frequent the bustling office hub.“For years, residents and concerned citizens have lodged complaints with the district magistrate’s office, yet the situation remains unchanged. Instead of a proper solution, the drainage system was redirected toward the district court area, exacerbating the problem and leaving litigants, advocates, judges and govt officials to wade through foul-smelling water. It shows the kind of neglect those who rely on essential services are facing. This is unacceptable,” said Aditya Bhati, an advocate at the district court. He said even light rain submerged the area and triggered waterlogging issues, and expressed concern about whether the administration would be able to tackle flood-like situations after heavy showers.Visitors to the district, expecting a reputable environment from what is often referred to as Noida’s administrative show window, have expressed dismay at the conditions, calling into question the effectiveness of local governance. “People come here with high hopes but leave disappointed,” one visitor noted. The negligence has not only affected daily operations but has also tarnished the image of the govt, with calls for accountability directed toward officials at various levels. Office-goers in the area have urged GNIDA to take a decisive action before the next bout of rain complicates the situation further. While a response from GNIDA is awaited on the matter, lawyers and consumer forum staff hope for tangible improvements in the area.
