Lucknow: To ensure that the upcoming kanwar yatra takes place smoothly, chief secretary SP Goyal and DGP Rajeev Krishna held a meeting with senior police and administrative officers of Meerut, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Moradabad divisions and the states of Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan on Monday.DGP said directed police officers to ensure “Zero Incident, Zero Accident” Kanwar Yatra, stressing seamless inter-state coordination, robust security measures and courteous policing to facilitate the safe movement of millions of pilgrims.He added that an adequate numbers of police and administrative personnel would be deployed at the entry and exit points of various national highways, state highways and expressways to guide pilgrims on the correct route.He said that meetings with DJs would be held in advance to ensure that sound levels remain below prescribed norms and the height of DJ consoles should remain as per standards. The DGP said that effective control should be maintained over DJ competitions, operation of vehicles without silencers, stunts and other undesirable activities.The CS said that security, crowd management, cleanliness, medical assistance and other necessary arrangements should be ensured at Kanwar lifting points, bathing ghats, major temples and Jalabhishek sites. He said that medical camps, bike ambulances, ambulance services and adequate reservation of beds in hospitals should be ensured on all Kanwar routes so that devotees can be given immediate medical attention when needed.In light of traffic diversion to be implemented during the yatra, the CS said that interstate coordination must be ensured. “A clear and strong communication plan should be prepared with all districts and bordering states so that there is no lack of coordination in any situation and necessary decisions can be taken quickly,” the CS said.Along the Kanwar routes, all electric poles will be covered with polythene, transformers will be barricaded, divers, motorboats, and medical facilities will be available, hotels and dhabas will have published rate lists, meat and liquor shops will not be operational, and arrangements will be made for mobile toilets, street lights, road repair, CCTV cameras, surveillance through drones etc.
