Ahmedabad: Prof Govindan Rangarajan, director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), said on Saturday that artificial intelligence (AI) is opening up new possibilities in education and scientific research, but its growing influence is also raising concerns about truth, trust and human relationships. He was speaking as the chief guest at the third convocation ceremony of Adani University. The university conferred 374 degrees during the ceremony, while 10 students were awarded medals for academic excellence.“AI offers tremendous possibilities in education and research. It can help us solve complex problems and accelerate scientific discovery. But we must also be mindful of its consequences. When images, videos and information can be generated so convincingly, how do we know what is true? And while technology is bringing us closer digitally, are we becoming more distant from one another?” Prof Rangarajan said.Dr Priti Adani, president of Adani University, and Dr Dhaval Pujara, provost of the university, were also present at the ceremony.
