Kolkata: Adani Group has expressed interest in several projects in Bengal, including the greenfield airport at Kalyani, CM Suvendu Adhikari said at a TV9 Bangla event on Thursday. The CM said Karan Adani, managing director, Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd, had assured him that the group would participate in the tender process if the state govt invites bids for the proposed airport. The project has also been proposed in the state budget. On the long-pending Tajpur deep-sea port project, the CM said it was now a “closed chapter”. He said that he had asked Adani about the project and was informed that the state did not have the requisite land for the project.“Besides land, a port would require rail and road connectivity, warehouses and other supporting infrastructure. The Adani Group has subsequently decided to withdraw from the project,” the CM said.He added that the group surveyed an alternative site at Dadanpatrabar in East Midnapore, around 10km from Tajpur, which has 1,700 acres of land and that the group would participate if the state govt invites bids for the project. The group has also decided to set up a 2,000-bed hospital at New Town.
