Amritsar: A man allegedly committed an act of sacrilege at the Golden Temple on Thursday by tearing pages from a Gutka Sahib and tying them to the end of a woman’s dupatta.Following the incident, an SGPC sewadar lodged a complaint at Kotwali police station, after which police apprehended the accused.Amritsar ACP (central) Surinder Singh said the accused, Mandeep Singh, is a resident of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar. The woman, also from the same locality, had come to the Golden Temple with her family to pay obeisance.Police examined CCTV footage from the Golden Temple complex, identified and traced Mandeep, and apprehended him, the ACP said.Police were questioning him to establish the circumstances and motive behind the alleged act.
