Kolkata: One of India’s largest indoor cricket facilities was inaugurated at Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Cricket Academy in Fulung, North Guwahati, on Friday, providing the state cricketers with a modern setup for year-round training, fitness and recovery.Spread across around 17,000 sq ft, the indoor facility has nine pitches — four spin and five seam wickets and all are equipped with imported Uniturf playing surfaces, allowing players to train in varied conditions.The facility was inaugurated by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia in the presence of ACA secretary Sanatan Das, treasurer Anupam Deka, Apex Council member Mukutananda Bhattacharjya and other officials.“The development of modern cricket infrastructure is essential for creating the right environment for players to learn, train and progress. The new indoor cricket facility at the ACA Cricket Academy brings together quality cricketing surfaces, fitness, recovery and physiotherapy facilities under one roof. I am confident that this facility will provide valuable support to the next generation of cricketers from Assam and contribute to their long-term development,” Saikia said at the event.The facility also has separate men’s and women’s changing rooms, both equipped with ice baths for post-training recovery. A dedicated 1,500 sq ft gymnasium has been incorporated, along with sauna and steam room facilities. A dedicated physiotherapy unit has also been set up to cater to player rehabilitation, injury management and recovery.The facility is expected to allow uninterrupted training irrespective of weather conditions and give the ACA Cricket Academy greater scope to conduct structured training programmes. It will also support players in skill development, physical conditioning and preparation for higher levels of competitive cricket.
