Silchar: Several students were injured in a clash between Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) supporters at Cachar College on Tuesday.The confrontation occurred during an NSUI membership drive on campus. An argument broke out between members of the two organisations and escalated into a scuffle, triggering tension.Police reached the college and brought the situation under control. Several injured students were taken to hospital for treatment.The immediate trigger remained disputed. One side alleged that objections were raised to female students wearing hijab while attending the NSUI programme, leading to an altercation. The other side rejected the claim.
