Rajkot: Fifteen days after the death of 23-year-old Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker and former local body election candidate Nandini Bosmiya, Rajkot City taluka police registered an FIR against her live-in partner Aslam Sama, his wife Zarina, and her mother Guddi, on charges including abetment of suicide and criminal intimidation under BNS.Nandini hanged herself on June 22 at her residence in Angan Residency. The case was initially registered as an accidental death under BNSS. Following a complaint filed by her family, police have now converted it into a suicide abetment case under BNS.According to the complaint lodged by Nandini’s father, Anand Bosmiya, the deceased, a native of Navagadh near Jetpur, was in a live-in relationship with Aslam for the past nine months. The two had reportedly stayed together in Junagadh before shifting to Rajkot.The complaint alleges that Aslam’s wife, Zarina, and her mother Guddi repeatedly threatened Nandini over phone calls, warning her that they would not allow her to continue living with Aslam. They allegedly threatened to disfigure her and subjected her to sustained mental harassment.The family further alleged that after Aslam’s wife returned, he began forcing Nandini to leave the house, telling her he no longer wanted to live with her. During this period, he allegedly assaulted her, abused her verbally and repeatedly demanded money from her. The complaint also claims that Aslam had pawned Nandini’s gold chain.According to the family, a day before her death, Nandini had told them that Aslam tried to strangle her and that the two had also argued over money..Police said the investigation was under way and officers were examining call detail records, electronic evidence and other material to verify the allegations made in the complaint. No arrests were announced at the time of filing this report.
